Symposia offer groups an opportunity to present and discuss a set of papers on a particular theme. The symposium initiator is responsible for the organization of the symposium (e.g. symposia call preparation and distribution, and coordinating participation and content etc.). A Symposium will have 55 minutes (45 min presentation and 10 min Q&A) leaving 5 min for participants to move to other sessions after the symposium. To leave adequate time for each of the presenters, a symposium should not have more than three presentations. The proposer of the symposium needs to submit a proposal within 1000 words, including an overview of the symposium and how each of the paper contributes to the theme of the symposium, and a 150-word abstract for each paper.
Paper presentation proposals should spell out work/research that is in progress or completed on studies related to the conference theme. The aim of the presentations is to stimulate discussions among academics and practitioners. The papers should provide a framework and the main recommendations of the study for facilitating productive discussions. Each session for paper presentation will last for 20 minutes (15 mins presentation and 5 mins Q&A). Each paper proposal should include a title and an extended abstract within 500 words (excluding references).
Scholars, researchers and professionals who are unable to attend CITERS2016 personally are invited to submit proposals for a Virtual Paper Presentation. Submissions for Virtual Paper Presentations will go through the same reviewing processes as regular papers. Virtual presentations can be delivered via technologies such as slidecast (e.g., SlideShare), pre-recorded video (e.g., via Youtube), Voicethread or similar technology of the presenter’s choice. Each virtual presentation will include a forum allowing CITERS2016 participants to engage in interaction with the presenters. Registered authors of virtual paper presentations will have access to all CITERS2016 papers and other material. Virtual presentation papers will be displayed alongside the regular papers.
The design of workshops should offer participants a chance to have hands-on experience with various types of digital resources and electronic tools that will help learning and teaching. Participants should also be actively engaged in productive discussions on the use of the resources and tools related to pedagogical purposes. Please note that the workshop initiators will be responsible for the organization of the workshop (e.g. workshop call preparation and distribution, coordinating workshop participation and content, assembling of the workshop materials required, equipment required for conducting the workshop, etc.). Workshops will last for 55 minutes, leaving 5 mins for participants to move to other sessions after the workshop. Workshop proposals should be no more than 500 words and include a title and a synopsis of the objectives and key workshop activities as well as the intended participants, the maximum number of attendants and the required equipment.
The design of teacher and student demonstrations is to provide an opportunity for sharing experiences on sound pedagogical practices in using IT to enhance learning. The aim of teacher and student demonstrations is to stimulate the development of pedagogical practices using IT through interaction and exchange of ideas with fellow teachers and practitioners. Please note that the teacher and student demonstrators will be responsible for the materials, equipment and human resources required for the demonstration. The time for each demonstration session would be 55 minutes (45 mins presentation, 10 mins Q&A, 5 mins for participants to move between sessions). Demonstration proposals should be no more than 500 words and include the following information: the title and focus of the demonstration, the intended audience, the key presenters involved and the kinds of activities for the presenters and for the audience.
